The first and last time I ever wrote to a president was to Ronald Regan. I remember the Iran hostage crisis. I was a child then. I remember hearing of President Carter negotiating the hostages release. I remember the hostages being released just hours after Ronald Regan was sworn in. Not thinking that was fair at all. I wrote him telling him it was not fair he receive credit for all Mr. Carter's hard work. I received a magazine about the White House.
I remember the Cold War, the riots of the Middle East and having to eventually stop writing my pen palls because of war or censorships. As a child this was my escape from my own troubled world. It was confusing to me, how the governments called for peace but could stop my new friends and I from communicating.

Way, way, way before the internet was a program on Tv that use an iconic mascot of a globe to encouraged children everywhere to be pen pals. It was exciting to get letters from around the world. This program taught me there were more people in the world besides my own little world and life could be a grand adventure if I had the courage to reach out to people outside my community. As time went on I understood that the world was my community. The loss of these friends I had never met but communicated with was just as great my best friend moving away. The fear for their safety was just as great as any I had for my own at any given night. Image as a kid getting a letter from your pen pall that was all drawn through with black marker and the teacher explaining that government censors had read the mail and "removed" information. |
We are all here and now. And the events of the earth shaking, rattling, rolling, errupting are being echoed in the streets of the Middle East and in South America. Just a couple of years ago the rioting was in Myanmar, Greece, and various countries in EU and the States of the US protesting. As one friend of mine posts on his blog, even animals are revolting against owners. Really, we are feeling a certain change in the air. As more and more people are standing up for the injust thrust upon them by these failing governments the call for freedom from non sense just may grow louder.
The hypocrisy of government can only pluck the strings of humanity's patience for so long. People are tired, they are ready to get back to the heart and practice of what it is to be human beings. They are throwing off the unnatural ways of being slaves. We are witnessing the Renasence of Freedom. The achievement of freedom and world peace, even order of the new world will not come from the heads of state or dignitaries. It will come from the children playing together, sharing together. It will come from the families laughing, singing, dancing, feasting together. Yes, it is that simple. The eradication of humanities woes will begin when the compassion we have for our ownselves is overtaken for compassion for another.

The only goverment rule that has ever made sense to me is "Love thy neighbor as yourself." We can have faith in tomorrow, we can have hope for today. But in the greatest of these is the concrete evidence and manifestation of faith and hope in the here and now. Love is a conquering force. Love shatters the darkness, obliterates evil's existence, establishes life, ensures freedom.
We are each dignitaries in our own circles of influence. Use this. Shine as Super Nova - Quasar are you are able. It does not take much effort. Only takes courage. Do you have courage to smile to a stranger today? Do you have courage to go volunteer at a shelter? Do you have the courage to call an official on their corruption? Do you have the courage to prepare a meal for a senior citizen and/or listen to their life story? Do you have the courage to really know the manufactoring history of the items you use at home? Do you have the courage to know what is really in your food? Do you have the courage to break yourself free from the lies and live the truth? Tell me do you have the courage to love yourself enough to be free in truth and in deed?
