From a teaching series first presented on Face Book, October 25, 2014 Jesus was not the only one to preach: "Love thy neighbor." In fact, many of the ancient religions before and after the teachings of Jesus taught the importance of loving one's self and neighbor. Even Atheists subscribe to help others and if you do not help another then at least do no harm. Allegedly, Jesus was not the only reported savior of the world or mankind. (1.) [In the footnotes, I have included links which list other lecturers presenting "alleged other mythical or historical saviors" and other researchers or curious persons who took it upon themselves to either substantiate or debunk the information presented to the public. ] |
What is it about Jesus that distinguishes him from the other saviors before and after Jesus is the message of Jesus and why he died. (2.) All that Jesus did was based upon, "Love the Lord, Your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and mind. Love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus preached self-responsibility and love. Jesus taught us that God the Creator is our Father. Jesus taught that God the Creator our Father is loving and not a hand to fist person or deity who governs by rules and regulations to condemn us all. Jesus was the only teacher and savior willing to lay his life down as an example of his love to his human family to united us all to Father God/Love and to each other in love. Yes, this is truly what set Jesus apart. We can sing all we want about the Blood of Jesus after all that is where we say life force dwells - in the blood. But what is the life force, if not Love - the core collective essence of our souls?
Jesus taught that our free will is what governs our life decisions and encouraged us to use our free will to come to understand our loving father and who we are as children to our loving father and who we are as the human family. Time and time again when Jesus performed miracles of healing he said to the person, "Your faith has made you well or made you whole." The importance of this is that the person chose to trust Jesus, to believe the words spoken by Jesus were/are truth, and to trust that what Jesus was both teaching and living was/is true/truth. They used their free will to accept life, freedom and vitality. They tapped into their power that was given to them from the time of birth and the set that power given to them from birth free -to have full expression. They did so when they tapped into the life force - Love.
Let's look at John 3
Nicodemus (We are calling him Nico for short) came to Jesus one night asking, Rabbi we know God is with you but how do you what you do?
What Jesus had to say to that baffled Nico, Jesus said one had to be born again to see the Kingdom of God. And one had to be born of water and spirit to enter into the Kingdom of God. What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of Spirit is spirit.
Nico was confused. Jesus said to Nico, "Do not marvel that I said you must be born again." Nico try as he might could not process how one could become born again.
Over the years many of us have heard that to be born again is to accept Jesus as one's Lord and Savior. Here Jesus is not talking about that at all. He has not even approached the topic of his crucifixion with his apostles yet nor had he even been crucified at all as of this conversation.
Jesus was strictly speaking of the inner power that God gave us as our birth right when He breathed his life breath into us, passing his life essence into us making us who was made of the Earth fashioned/crafted by His hands the containment of his very essence/being to be lived here on Earth. It was the equipping that we need to live here on earth. As our body our flesh is our suit that allows our spirit to interact with the tangibility of earth, the trees, water, one another, anything that requires touch. So our spirits allow us to interact with all things spiritual . We cannot ignore one in favor of the other. Both are as important and are connected. However, it is the spiritual that regulates and has the most affect upon the individuality of who we really are and is reflected in everything that is "about" our individual selves.
Jesus asked Nico, "Are you a master of Israel and do not know these things?"
He went on to say, "We speak of what we do know; and testify of what we have seen; and you have not received our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and you have not believed, how shall you believe if I tell you the heavenly things?"
Who is the "we" that Jesus mentions? I would say the "we" is not only Jesus and perhaps the Holy Spirit, but perhaps also the apostles and all who were healed by their faith as Jesus pointed out to them and we referenced in the above paragraphs.
What Jesus and Nicodemus are discussing is throwing off the shackles that bind one in darkness, busting out of darkness and living light, love, freedom by exercising the free will. Free will always finds a way to acknowledge the liberty in life. That liberty in life brings one to relationship with Father God and is found in Father God's love. Our Life Force. That force that is both in the "Darkness" and in the Light. That force that the Jedis are admonished to "Let the Force be with you."
Why did not Jesus say to Love Father God, Elohim, Jehovah, Himself (Jesus) or many of the names for God found in the Bible, Torah, Talmud? Jesus was addressing a mixed crowd as was often the case when Jesus spoke to the crowds he was addressing. Not everyone was of Jewish decent. Not everyone worshiped the God of Jacob. Why did Jesus say Love the Lord your god with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, love your neighbor as yourself? Jesus was affirming people's right to be right where they were at the moment in their lives. In their thoughts, in their thinking, in their world views. He was also placing love in a higher position to their thoughts and world views. In doing so Jesus was allowing all who were there at that moment the ability to use their free will to chose Love and to chose to live Love. Love who is God and covers all sins, all wrongs, all ill thinking, all differences, leads to truth, binds us together, conquers and dissipates all fears and gives us the courage and strength to believe the heavenly things and to live them.
Is it free will when one rejects the teachings and life of Jesus and rejects the Love of Father God? Ironically yes and no. It is a fear grounded in lies that perpetrates the idea of a loving living father figure. It is the idea that God is powerless, impotent, non existent, or cruel, sadistic, chauvinistic, unstable in mind, manipulative, blood thirsty, fear mongering, dominant, dictorial. If one rejects God for this being their image of God but they are one who loves their neighbor and their own self and strive to do right by all living love, it does not negate the existence of God and it does not mean that this is the God that does exist. It is simply their own view. In truth by virtue of science God cannot be proven nor unproven. And by the virtue of every day living, God cannot be proven or unproven. How one sees God or does not see God is often as a result of one's upbringing, culture, environment and the situations one lived through and the methods and the processes one used to gain useful knowledge and coping tools as a result of those situations, what perspectives one chose to grasp, to assimilate, and to make up one's own being was and is a result of the person exercising their own free will. Yet, while they are thinking God to be all things dark, void and powerless, useless and hateful, they are still living love and the true character of God.
Jesus and Nicodemus read the same scriptures. Both were leaders of the people. Yet, their views of who exactly was God was vastly different. Jesus knew of a loving father full of life and possibilities and unlimited potential. Nicodemus knew of a god who was a dictator,a ruler who was by the book with rules and regulations, judgments and punishments, if there was a god at all.
Jesus said to Nicodemus, "No man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven." Honestly, I am not sure what all is meant by the statement. But what I gather is that we are meant to understand how to live here on earth and in heaven. And from what I have read thus far, love is the way to live.
Jesus goes on to say, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so must the Son of Man be lifted up. That whoever believes in him should not perish but have ever lasting life. Contrary to popular opinion and popular teaching "everlasting life" does not mean living forever and ever. In John 17:3 Jesus specified while praying that eternal life is a relationship with Father God. "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." Matter cannot be created nor destroyed so science says, but matter can take on another shape. This is the same with energy. Energy can take on various forms.
Jesus let Nico know that he is the Son of God. He also explains that God is loving. And that Jesus was here as a gift to the world. Is that arrogance? Maybe but Jesus lived in such a way as that those around him took notice and wanted to live. He made the proud humble, the powerful weak, the humble powerful. Jesus is no longer on earth in body but in spirit through those who continue to live his example - he is here. Immanuel: God with us. The breath of Heaven with all Humanity. So if one loves their neighbor and their own self and strives to do right by all living love are they truly rejecting Jesus? Are they truly denying that God IS when their words speak denial yet their actions are giving that same God liberty through their every movement and gesture a full expression of the essence of God allowed to live, be, do without hinderance?
Jesus did not come here to condemn the world. And neither should we who say we believe in Jesus and do strive to live as he did. Jesus allowed people to come to the truth on their own. Jesus said in John 3:19, it is the men who love darkness and their evil deeds who are condemned. He that does evil loves darkness and will not ever come to the light otherwise their deeds would be exposed and reproved. So it is now time to stop calling those who do not claim Christ as savior but follow his example -Fallen. Evil. And it is time to stop treating them with hate and disdain. And it is time to stop those who do claim Christ as savior but do evil -Saved. Good. Christian. And treat them merely with compassion and counseling. Luke 9:49 John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name; and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow along with us." But Jesus said to him, "Do not hinder him; for he who is not against you is for you."
John 3:21 He that does truth comes to the light that his deeds may be manifest that they are wrought (carefully formed, shaped, worked into artistry by work or effort) in God.
This inner power that you were born with. This God ordained power that was yours was from the beginning of time and you were equipped with from birth is your life force. The very Life Force of God. It is all that God truly is...Love. It is by this you were conceived no matter the circumstances that brought you into being, you are from God's /Love's own very self. Conceived in Love, Created in Love, Born in Love to be Love, To Love. You Are Love. It is up to you to own your identity. It is up to you to live your identity. Jesus did and was not ashamed. He knew the gift to the world that he was and still is. Do you? Jesus owned this reality that was/is his. Are you? If not, then WHY? There is no excuse. Does God believe in you? Yep, proof of that is that you are here for such a time as NOW!
Love and all Love is, is YOURS. Love and all Love is, is YOU. Love and all Love is, is GOD/CREATOR. You are gods of this earth. Own it! Live it! God is Love. This is where you came from...God/Love. Love is why you are here. To live...to live Love. Living Love is the meaning of Life and how Heaven on Earth will be established. Let's get to it.
